Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my iPhone save photos as HEIC?
HEIC stores the same quality as JPG in about half the space, so Apple made it the default in iOS 11. The trade-off: Windows, older software, and many websites can't open it — which is exactly what this converter fixes.
Will converting lose quality?
At quality 90, the JPG is visually identical to the original for photos. Choose PNG for pixel-perfect lossless output (bigger files), or WebP for the smallest files at equal quality.
Can I stop my iPhone from using HEIC?
Yes: Settings → Camera → Formats → "Most Compatible" makes the camera shoot JPG directly. "High Efficiency" (HEIC) remains the better choice for storage space if you convert only when needed.
Are my photos kept on the server?
No. The photo is converted in server memory, streamed back as your download, and immediately discarded — never written to disk, never shared.
