Why "total days lived" is more than a trivia number
Milestone day-counts — 1,000 days old, 10,000 days old, 20,000 days old — have become a small but genuine tradition for marking birthdays that don't fall on a round year number. 10,000 days works out to almost exactly 27 years and 4 months (10,000 ÷ 365.25 ≈ 27.38 years), and because it lands on an odd, unpredictable date rather than a round birthday, people often only discover it's coming up by checking a calculator like this one in advance.
Why the months figure can look uneven
Unlike total days (a pure count) or total weeks, the years/months/days breakdown is calendar-aware rather than a fixed division — it counts actual full calendar months elapsed, which vary from 28 to 31 days long. That's why, for example, someone might be "3 months and 2 days" past their birthday in one case and "3 months and 5 days" in another for the same number of elapsed days, depending on exactly which months were crossed.
